OUR WHY
Because families deserve another choice.
Wild N Rooted began from a very personal place — as a mum, I became frustrated by how expensive skincare products could be, especially when there was no guarantee they would actually suit my daughter’s skin.
I wanted something simpler. Something made from ingredients I understood. Something inspired by nature and made with care, without the hefty price tag that so often comes with natural products.
That frustration became a bigger idea.
We wanted to create thoughtfully made, nature-inspired products that were accessible to everyday families — not something that felt out of reach.
We make our products in small batches, keep our ingredients simple and work hard to keep our prices fair.
Because natural, thoughtfully made products shouldn't have to cost the earth.
Sometimes the best ideas start with simply wanting to find another way.
I started learning, experimenting and making my own kawakawa-infused oil at home. From there came the first batches of our balm — made, tested, tweaked and made again until we had something we were proud of.
What started as a personal project quickly became something bigger.
We realised that we didn't just want to make something for ourselves. We wanted to create a brand that reflected the things we value: nature, simplicity, thoughtful ingredients and affordability.
And that's where Wild N Rooted NZ began.
We're still at the beginning of our journey, with plenty more ideas growing behind the scenes.
Why kawakawa
Kawakawa felt like the right place to begin.
Aotearoa is home to an incredible range of native plants, and kawakawa is one that has a particularly strong connection to our landscape and culture.
With a long history of traditional use in Māori knowledge, kawakawa has been valued for generations. We wanted our first product to acknowledge that connection and introduce this special native plant to our Wild N Rooted journey.
Our balm is made with kawakawa-infused oil, created in small batches as part of our commitment to keeping our first product simple and considered.

Wild N Rooted NZ is a small, independently owned business created by Tamara and Ashton.
We're building this from the ground up — figuring things out, learning as we go and enjoying the process along the way.
We're two people with different skills, plenty of ideas and a shared love of creating something of our own. Wild N Rooted gives us the chance to combine all of that into something we're genuinely proud of.
We're starting small, making things by hand and growing at our own pace.
And this is only the beginning.
